Our Space

The Humanities Center is located on the second floor of Rush Rhees Library, off the Great Hall.

To check the availability of our three conference rooms, visit the , select Add Filter > Room and type "Humanities Center."

Faculty, staff, and students can book space in the Center using the (EMS account required). Please contact lynn.stork@rochester.edu for EMS account questions or technical assistance. 

Humanities Center Lounge

The Humanities Center lounge is open to faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduates in our Meliora Scholars program by swipe access with their University IDs during Library hours. 

Undergraduates may request swipe access to the lounge on a semester-to-semester basis by becoming Humanities Center Affiliates. Please send an email to tbakhmet@ur.rochester.edu with a 350-word summary of a humanities-related project you are currently working on, which faculty members (if any) you are working with on your project, and why use of the Humanities Center is important to you for the completion of your project. 

The Humanities Center lounge may no longer be reserved for non-humanities related events. To reserve the lounge for a humanities department event, please email caroline.elliott-loughney@rochester.edu at least 3 business days in advance.

Conference Rooms

Conference rooms are available by reservation only.

The standard set-up in Conference Room D is U-shaped conference style with seating for 20. The room may be set lecture-style for up to 50 people if prior arrangements are made with Facilties. Please note that this will incur a fee and you will be responsible for ensuring the room is reset to its standard set-up at the end of your event.
