My studies informed how I approach my work. I always first seek to understand what came before, and the historical context for the environment in which we are operating today. I feel so grateful to have received such a strong undergraduate education, with personalized mentorship, and many opportunities for high-level research and seminar-style discussions. How did your history degree from 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳ help you prepare for your profession?
I am a strong believer in the value of a liberal arts education in general. Skills of critical thinking and analysis, and clear and effective writing, are skills that are invaluable in any field, and are particularly so in the law. My study of history at UR provided me not only with insight into the development of the law, but also helped train me in the art of research, analysis, and communication.
Why did you become a member of the HAAC?
Today, excellent quality private education is extremely expensive, and intense pressure exists to study purportedly practical skills. I would like to assist the Department to flourish, and to help students recognize the value of the study of history.
