Overview

A student singing on stage.

There's no better time to get involved with the Theatre Program than now and there are so many ways to do so!  Remember: everything you do in Theatre at the UR can be done for credit from acting to backstage and inbetween. If you're interested in being involved as a stage manager, scroll down to here. Interested in working backstage and behind-the-scenes? Click here. For actors, auditions are open to everyone! You don't have to be a theatre major/minor to be cast, and you'll get credit for being in shows. Auditions are generally held on the first Friday and Saturday of every semester. View the audition schedule for more information.  FAQsAudition Tips!

Preparing for Your Audition

Preparing an audition piece or monologue is highly encouraged. Check out the audition schedule and details to see what's required for individual productions. Students who do not have a prepared audition piece are still welcome to audition: just show up!

Reading the play before auditioning is a great way to prepare. Copies are generally available on reserve at Rush Rhees Library and from the Theatre Program office in Todd Union, Room 207.
