Transfer Policy
Transfer credit is typically awarded for introductory statistics courses taken at other universities, although other transfer credit awards are possible, depending on course content. Generally, an introductory statistics course will transfer as STAT 180 credit. Please email/meet with a to discuss transfer credit. You will need to provide the advisor with a copy of the course syllabus, including a detailed list of topics covered, for review.
Students who have earned a 4 or 5 on the AP Statistics exam will be award credit for STAT 180.
Equivalency of Introductory Courses
Current policy allows students to only earn credit for one introductory statistics course. With some majors requiring students to have specifically taken STAT 190, a bridging module exists for students who have earned credit for STAT 180 (or STAT 212 before fall 2024) but need the STAT 190-level of introductory statistics. This bridging module, STAT 181, is offered in the fall and spring semesters. This is a self-paced, 0-credit module that culminates with an equivalency exam to assess statistical competency at the STAT 190 level. Students must have received STAT 180 (or STAT 212) credit before being eligible for othe STAT 181 module.
