Co-author/editor of Growing Up Democratic: Does It Make a Difference? (Lynne Rienner, 2016), of the Guide to State Politics and Policy (Sage/CQ Press 2014), of the highly respected Controversies in Voting Behavior, 5th ed. (CQ Press, 2010), and of the widely known compilation , 2015-2016 (CQ Press, 2015). Co-editor of a comparative volume on voting and elections, (Sage, 2014). Co-author of a work on usability aspects of voting machines and ballot design, (Brookings, 2007). Co-editor of (University of Michigan Press, 2007). Co-author of Civic Education: What Makes Students Learn (Yale 1998) and of earlier books on political socialization. Member, American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Foreign member, Finnish Academy of Science and Letters. Author or co-author of 11 articles in the American Political Science Review. Winner, in 2010, of the William H. Riker University Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching.
