Study Abroad - Elizabeth Garijo-Garde (Summer 2023)

This summer I spent 6 weeks in Vienna, Austria studying music through IES! I took a music history class, private cello lessons, and learned German. I loved every second of my classes and time in Vienna, especially because much of my music history class was field trip based! We visited the Austrian Alps where Mahler composed his third symphony, Mozart's apartment in Salzburg, attended the Vienna Philharmonic's annual outdoor summer concert, and visited Beethoven's apartment in Heiligenstadt. The trip was amazing, and I'm so grateful to the Arthur Satz Department of Music for their generosity!
