Chemistry Faculty Receive Awards from Technology Development Fund (TDF)

March 10, 2016

UR Ventures Technology Review reports that after presenting their projects to the Technology Development Fund Executive Committee, Chemistry faculty members are co-investigators on two of the four teams that have received the latest round of awards from the University's Technology Development Fund. TDF funding allows for proof-of-concept experimentation and pre-clinical studies.

Prof. Rudi Fasan is working with  Prof. Lynne Maquat (Biochemistry and Biophysics),  with hopes to design, develop, and test inhibitor compounds that will permeate and silence breast cancer cells.

Prof. Robert Boeckman and Dr. Frank Ebetino seek to engineer a tissue-selective extension of known therapeutic compounds in order to cause effective drugs to adhere to human bones.

Congratulations Professor Boeckman, Dr. Ebetino, and Professor Fasan!

About the Technology Development Fund

Often, research efforts yield scientific breakthroughs that are not yet ready to be translated to real-world situations. UR Ventures, the technology transfer office at the 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳, created the Technology Development Fund (TDF) to help University researchers get to the first stages of commercialization more quickly.

Any faculty member, postdoctoral fellow, graduate student, or other employee of the 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳ is eligible to apply for funding of $40,000 to $100,000 from the TDF, provided that they submit an invention disclosure and short-form TDF application to UR Ventures.
