Where is home/Where did you grow up?

Singapore

Why did you choose chemistry as a career?

My career started in geology. Through metamorphism, my geological career transformed into the energetic world of physics. With the high energy and intense forces acting on my career, it was only a matter of time before it morphed into chemistry.

What do you like to do when not in the department?

Coaching soccer, cooking, eating

An inspiring book/movie /show? We are really curious as to why!

Seven Samurai is a 1954 Japanese epic samurai drama film co-written, edited, and directed by Akira Kurosawa. The story takes place in 1586 during the Sengoku period of Japanese history. It follows the story of a village of desperate farmers who hire seven ronin to combat bandits who will return after the harvest to steal their crops.

Why? if you like Star Wars you will understand.

A holiday that rocks? Care to tell us why?

Chinese New Year – It’s a time to be grateful for family and to wish for the best in the new year. It’s also a time to have all the family together, much like Thanksgiving but way better food! It is a two week holiday and kids get red packets of MONEY! and you get to eat all kinds of sweets!

Care to share about a special tradition in your family/town/country?

Eating noodles for good luck for all important occasions.
