Behind the Test Tube: Q&A
Maggie Scholer [she/her]
Undergraduate Student, Chemistry/Earth and Environmental Sciences
Where is home/where did you grow up?
I grew up in Pittsford, NY, which is a suburb just outside 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳.
Proudest accomplishment while at the 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳?
My proudest accomplishment was likely when I presented my work at the American Geophysical Union Fall 2022 Meeting. It was an incredibly rewarding experience to share my research with like-minded individuals and receive positive feedback from professionals in the field.
What do you like to do when not in the department?
I really enjoy hiking, skiing, and reading. I'm currently studying in New Zealand and have been using my free time to get outside as often as possible!
A 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳ must?
I love going to the public market on Saturdays in 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳ and getting fresh fruit and bread.
Fun fact or quote:
I'm red-green colorblind (which is fairly rare in girls and makes chemistry quite interesting at times!)
The goal of this initiative is to highlight the diversity of backgrounds and perspectives in the Department of Chemistry and help our community develop stronger connections and synergies. You can think of these spotlights as the beginning of a conversation that we very much hope you will continue in the corridors of Hutch and beyond.
