"Reverse" takes a look at life in 1950s communist Poland, center- ing on a fateful encounter between a bookish young woman and a member of the secret police. Billed by the press as a black comedy but not quite fitting The film is the full length feature debut of Borys Lankosz and Poland鈥檚 submission for the foreign- language Oscar in 2010. According to Lankosz, 鈥渢he film is the story of spiritual victory, a tale of women who have to fight against the evil which erupts in their lives and who find them- selves under pressure. In this sense, it鈥檚 a sort of study of ordi- nary people in an extraordinary situation.鈥
The film and its terrific jazz-inflicted score have received many awards at Polish and international festivals.
