Feature Story

Public Health-Related Programs is pleased to announce the first recipient of the Ted Brown Undergraduate Award in Health Justice.

Sarah Cushman, a senior majoring in health, behavior, and society, is a 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳ Education Justice Initiative (REJI) scholar who has been a passionate advocate for the underserved. Her independent research project revised URMC’s policies for the treatment for incarcerated individuals, and throughout her undergraduate career she has worked as a community health specialist at Trillium Health—living her commitment to improving community care for marginalized individuals.

The 91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳ features a leading academic medical center, famous for its role in developing three vaccines now used globally. Our public health program builds on faculty expertise and research strengths in both the College and the Medical Center. We also offer educational programs in the Department of Public Health Sciences that are accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health.
